ABOUT ME
I was born and raised in Arlington Texas. I graduated in 1968 from Arlington High School. I then went to Baylor University for my undergraduate degree, then stayed in Waco for the next three years to complete additional accounting courses and get my CPA certificate and license. In 1975 I moved to Dallas, and have spent the remainder of my life in either Arlington, Dallas, or Rockwall, where I now reside.
My career has been in the accounting field: public accounting, both local and national, then in industry, mainly in the oil and gas business. During the mid-80′s I also had a real estate broker’s license, and a residential construction company concentrated in SW Arlington. In 1986 my daughter Whitney was born. In 1998 I started MBA school at SMU. In 1990 my son Andrew was born, and in 1991 I graduated from SMU. In 1995 I met my wife Cyndi who lived in Rowlett at the time. We were married in February of 1997. Cyndi has a son Josh who lives in Nebraska. We are now empty-nesters, and enjoy it a lot! We go to church at Lakepointe Church in Rockwall, and love our church. We enjoy drinking wine, travel (we went to Italy in 2011 just prior to 9/11), movies, and the occasional trip to the theater or musical, or the museums. She plays the piano and I play the guitar (both somewhat poorly!). And we both enjoy working out (her much more than me…and I reflect that!).
In 1999 I moved out of the accounting and finance business and obtained a mortgage loan officer license and have been doing residential mortgages ever since. I am currently with Davis Mortgage Group a branch of Christensen Financial, Inc. We’re located in Southlake, Texas. In the last several years I’ve also returned to real estate with several investors to buy, rehab and sell houses in the North and East Dallas area, and in Rowlett. We do about 3 houses a year, and it’s a fun thing to do. I tell Cyndi it’s my therapy! I named my company Sherwood for the name of the street that I grew up on in Arlington, Sherwood Drive. We remodel kitchens, baths, whole houses if necessary. I am also a licensed insurance agent with NAA, a company that represents major companies like Mutual of Omaha and ING. And I recently obtained a financial interest in Trinity Roofing & Construction in Mansfield, TX. That company specialized in residential and commercial roofs, as well as remodels and rehabs.
My goal is to help as many people as I can in as many ways as I can. Whether it be a home loan, insurance (health, life and annuties…no property and casualty), or repair and remodel their real estate properties, I want to be there to help. When there’s a need by one of my friends or one of their friends, I want to be there to solve the problem for them in a professional manner, the way they want it to be solved.
